BE the Change!
Our healthy behaviors and personal empowerment training programs simultaneously impact kids’ academic performance, life skills and health! Since 1993, WFIT has been training trainers—including teens, college students, parents, multi-subject school teachers, fitness professionals, and other youth serving professionals. Our ‘Train-the-Trainer’ model maximizes sustainability and brings much-needed expertise and professional development opportunities to those who have the greatest influence on our children and youth, but who rarely have the knowledge or experience needed to help them become more physically active and make healthy choices.
Why Promote Healthy Habits? Just ask WFIT training participants:
"...of the connection between exercising, academics and healthy eating." Classroom Teacher
"...physical activity and nutrition help prevent a lot of diseases." WFIT 8th Grader
"...people do not want to get fat or get diabetes." WFIT 3rd Grader
"...obesity is a big problem that needs to be solved and I need to set the example." WFIT Afterschool Coach
The Multiplier Effect
WFIT maximizes our impact by sharing our expertise according to a replicable model that can reach thousands of students by partnering with a network of schools and youth service providers. The process starts with our Master Trainers who guide others on how to teach and incorporate our healthy behaviors and personal empowerment program model into any existing program and curriculum—not only making a lasting impact on youth, but also on the teens and adults who work directly with them.
Specifically, WFIT’s Master Trainers are developing local trainers in selected areas to conduct train-the-trainer workshops with the adults and teens who work directly with elementary, middle and high school students in their communities. WFIT has been successful in serving youth and families from some of the most economically challenged communities of Los Angeles. Our goal now is to bring our successful model to many more youth, families and communities across the nation and the world so they can achieve the same breakthrough results!

With our growing network of trainers, our model is rapidly spreading across the nation and around the world.
Drawing on the knowledge gained in our highly successful afterschool programs, WFIT has developed the following premier healthy behaviors and personal empowerment leadership training programs:
- Physical Activity Leadership℠ (PAL)
- Mentors in Motion℠ (MiM)
- Nourishing Matters℠
- Freshman Leadership Program℠ (FLP)
WFIT students, coach-mentors, staff, teachers, parents and volunteers are becoming change agents within their communities as they make significant, positive changes to their healthy behaviors while teaching others what they've learned.
This month, we're featuring WFIT participant and graduating senior David Sanchez, who balances track, football, mentoring, and high school with a healthy and active lifestyle.Click here to read David's inspiring story
