A world in which childhood obesity is no longer an epidemic…a world in which young people, even the most disadvantaged, receive the guidance they need to be physically, mentally and emotionally fit…a world where children have positive role models and can themselves become leaders and role models for younger generations…a world where all students complete high school ready for higher education, the workforce, and a healthy, prosperous future.

A World Fit For Kids! (WFIT) is creating that world. For more than 18 years, WFIT has been dedicated to preparing young people for fit and fulfilling lives! WFIT is a leading provider of healthy behaviors and personal empowerment programming and training that result in a triple bottom line for young people: 1) obesity reduction; 2) increased graduation rates; and 3) work readiness/jobs.

Since 1993, WFIT has helped transform the lives of more than 170,000 elementary, middle and high school students through a wide range of strategically designed afterschool activities to ensure young people develop the skills, tools and support they need to succeed.

Additionally, WFIT provides professional development training programs that integrate personal empowerment practices and principles with healthy behaviors in order to positively impact the lives of students and the adults who work with them. WFIT training participants become active advocates and role models who adopt healthy habits, share what they learn, and positively influence their peers, families, schools and communities.

In recognition of the results from the organization's programming, WFIT was awarded the 2007 Gold Medal from the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports as the most outstanding nonprofit organization "positively impacting the physical activity, fitness and well-being of California's children and youth."
