Fitness Specialist
ABOUT OUR TEAM
A World Fit For Kids! provides physical activity-based afterschool programs that prepare young people for fit and fulfilling lives. Our staff employs physical activity, mentorship and academic enrichment as tools for leading youth toward success in school, work and life. Our Fitness Specialists support in the development and delivery of new initiatives and continually refined trainings for our physical activity-based personal empowerment programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Fitness Gram Testing – preparation, execution, reporting, analysis and prescriptions, coach training, presentation of results/certificates to students
• Assist with the development and delivery of program specific trainings
• Facilitate peer coaching demonstrations each week on site
• Prepare post-activity debriefing topics and guidelines
• Provide on-site physical activity technical support for all coaches
• Manage and facilitate on-site ‘Playstations Circuit’ of physical activities for students
• Participate in weekly site meetings and discussion topics
• On-site program promotion (create and distribute flyers, announcements, etc.)
• Manage equipment and resources for fitness programs
• Collaborate with school administration regarding snack selection and quality
• Attend off site meetings and conferences pertaining to fitness programs
• Prepare program reports and evaluations as needed
• Promote health discussions and disseminate educational and informational materials in the afterschool program, amongst family, and schools
• Provide educational opportunities related to health and wellness
• Compliance and facilitation of site specific fundraising guidelines
• Conduct and prepare field trips
• Coordinate on site sport tournaments
• Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Experience implementing out-of-school enrichment activities and/or educational activities
• Graduate of or majoring in education, physical education, recreation or a related field is desirable
• Must have an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s, or be in the process of pursuing either
• Regular physical activity participation
• Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others
• Excellent organizational skills
• Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish)
• Certified Personal Training Certificate or related experience an asset
• Must become CPR and First Aid Certified 90 days after date of hire
• Must submit to a TB clearance and background check
• Must be over the age of 18
DAYS / HOURS: Flexible hours, Monday to Friday, between 1:30–6:00 pm. Some weekend work is required.
PAY: Commensurate with experience.
