Afterschool Coach-Mentor
ABOUT OUR TEAM
A World Fit For Kids! provides physical activity-based afterschool programs that prepare young people for fit and fulfilling lives. Our well-trained Coach-Mentors provide a safe, supervised and fun environment where kids and teens can build their physical, mental and emotional fitness. Our staff employs physical activity, mentorship and academic enrichment as tools for leading youth toward success in school, work and life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Manage a group of students within a safe and positive environment at assigned elementary, middle or high school site
• Attend trainings outside of typical program hours and on weekends as required
• Assist in the development and implementation of sport, enrichment and physical activity projects
• Assist with participant recruitment at assigned school site
• Participate in weekly site meetings and contribute to discussions
• Provide program feedback and reports as required
• Manage site equipment and resources in a responsible and tidy manner
• Assist with special events and field trips for assigned site
• Provide material for newsletter/website articles highlighting the program and students
• Collect data and participate in evaluations as needed
• Provide additional program support and duties as assigned by Program Director and Executive Director
• Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
• Experience in implementing out-of-school enrichment activities and/or educational activities
• An Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s, or must be in the process of pursing either—preferably in the fields of education, physical education or recreation
• Regular physical activity participation
• Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others
• Excellent organizational skills
• Spanish communication is an asset, but not required
• Some light lifting may be required
• Must become CPR and First Aid certified 90 days after date of hire
• Must submit to a TB clearance and background check
• Must be over the age of 18
• Some training may be provided
DAYS / HOURS: Monday – Friday, 3 hours/day (afterschool hours range from 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm). Some evenings and weekends may be required.
