Academic Tutor

ABOUT OUR TEAM

A World Fit For Kids! provides physical activity-based afterschool programs that prepare young people for fit and fulfilling lives. Our staff employs physical activity, mentorship and academic enrichment as tools for leading youth toward success in school, work and life. Our Academic Tutors work one-on-one with students to assist them in achieving academic breakthroughs and developing mental fitness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide academic assistance that supplements the academic goals of the student and school

• Keep daily attendance records

• Work with teachers, if necessary

• Serve as a positive role model

• Attend bi-weekly staff meetings

• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written

• Prior paid or volunteer experience in tutoring

• Graduate of or majoring in education, physical education, recreation or a related field is desirable

• Must have an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s, or be in the process of pursing either

• Proven ability to assist students in an academic environment with core subjects

• Ability to work independently and with a team

• Ability to work with a varied population such as teachers, parents, and students

• Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish)

• Must become CPR and First Aid certified 90 days after date of hire

• Must submit to a TB clearance and background check

• Must be over the age of 18

• Some training may be provided

DAYS / HOURS: Monday – Friday, 2 hours/day (afterschool hours range from 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm).

PAY: Commensurate with experience.
